Tracking Gold Prices in Egypt
The gold figure a buyer needs in Egypt is not a number heard at the end of a news bulletin.
When you buy a ring, a bar or a gold pound, the comparison starts with the right carat’s gram rate and then moves to the item’s weight, making charge and sale or exchange terms.
This tracker therefore leads with 24K as the high-purity reference and places 22K, 21K, 18K and 14K alongside it, so a different carat is never calculated on the wrong basis. Local values are in Egyptian Pounds.
On Arabic pages the £ symbol follows the number, for example 7,022.86 £.
The rate board keeps the source’s buy and sell labels separate, and it also shows gold-pound and ounce quotes when those products are supplied.
Those products are not simply a fixed multiplication of the gram rate: each can carry its own weight, carat, packaging and issue cost.
Use the product row when comparing a gold pound or ounce, and use the carat row when calculating jewellery or a specified metal weight. The visible update time is part of the comparison, not decoration.
A morning quotation may not match one received several hours later.

How to Use the Rate Board
you are buying or selling. For jewellery, read the hallmark or ask for the carat, then request the net gold weight in grams.
Gross item weight is not enough if stones or non-gold components are included. Multiply the weight by the rate for that exact carat, then write the making charge as a separate line.
Where a stone, setting or alteration is involved, ask for its value separately as well. That turns two headline totals into a real like-for-like comparison.
When selling old jewellery or exchanging it for something new, do not assume that the column used for a purchase is the one that will value your item.
Ask the jeweller to state the applicable rate, accepted weight and any deduction before agreeing to the amount due. For an exchange, request the old item calculation and the new invoice on separate lines.
A single difference figure hides how either side of the transaction was valued.
The calculator is useful for testing several weights or carats without repeating the arithmetic. Choose the rate basis, enter the actual weight and add the making charge exactly as quoted.
The result is an estimate of those inputs, not a substitute for a hallmark or a complete invoice. Keep the time and details of an offer, particularly when you are comparing more than one visit or seller on the same day.
History and Currency Context
The chart and daily history record prices accepted by the site on dated observations. Missing days are not filled with an estimated international value, so you may see a gap rather than an invented line.
A gap is more honest than an unreliable number and a useful reminder that yesterday’s direction is not a promise about tomorrow.
Use the history to place today’s rate among recorded days, not to rush into a decision based on a forecast.
The currency board converts the same gram value into major currencies for broad comparison. Each cell includes both a symbol and ISO code, so Egyptian Pounds (EGP) do not get confused with British Pounds (GBP), even though both display £.
The conversion is useful when reading international coverage or coordinating a budget with someone outside Egypt, but it is not a bank, card or cash-exchange rate.
Keep a local invoice in EGP and check both the gold rate and any currency conversion at the time of the quote.
From Market Rate to Clear Invoice
The number on this site is a market reference; the invoice is your actual agreement with the seller. Ask for the carat, weight, gram rate, making charge, stone value where relevant, final total and pricing time.
Before collection, check the hallmark, weight, size and clasp, and ask about repairs, exchange and repurchase while the exact item is in front of you.
These details do not make a piece cheap or expensive on their own, but they prevent different products from being compared as though they were identical.
Gold Rate Misr does not rank jewellers or guarantee a commercial quotation. City pages use the same national rate reference while adding context on local gold-market areas and practical buying conditions.
The final price still belongs to the item and the sale terms. If a large difference appears, return first to carat, weight, making charge and quotation time.
In most cases, the reason is found there before anyone needs to guess why the gold rate changed.
