Practical Answers

Gold Rate Questions

Which gold rate should I use for a jewellery purchase?

Use the rate for the carat marked on the item. Then ask the shop to separate the gold value from making charges, stones and any other fees.

Why do 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K have different prices?

Each carat has a different percentage of gold. Higher purity generally means a higher market value per gram.

Can I use these figures to value old gold?

They give a useful starting point. A buyer may test purity, deduct a service margin or apply separate terms, so confirm the buyback quote directly.

Egypt market guide

Understanding today’s Egypt gold price

The main price page is a reference board for Egypt gold in EGP. It keeps the rate per gram visible first, then lets you compare the same market basis across major carats. This prevents a common mistake: comparing a 24K benchmark with a 21K jewellery quote, or treating a finished-item price as if it were only raw gold value.

In Egypt, 21K is often the practical jewellery reference, but 24K still matters because it anchors pure-gold value. 18K is common in modern and stone-set designs, while 14K may appear in imported or budget-focused pieces. Each carat has a different gold percentage, so the lower number is not automatically a discount; it may simply reflect lower purity.

Before accepting a quote, ask for carat, net weight, gram rate, making charge, tax, stones and return terms. If the shop gives a total only, the comparison remains unclear. A transparent invoice makes two offers easier to compare and helps later if you sell, exchange or insure the item.
